Softpoint
A dental syringe that reframes how patients experience anesthetic procedures. Revised form, materials, and technology fosters a less frightening, more comfortable experience.
Duration: 12 weeks
Now & Later
Traditional dental syringes are designed to be efficient and autoclavable, making them a seamless procedure in the dental care cycle. However, this speed comes at a cost of making fear a part of the procedure for patients.
How might we create a new generation syringe that prioritizes both patient comfort and provider efficiency?
Dental syringe vs disposable syringe (flu shots...)
What's Wrong?
Awkward hand position. Kids (and adults) hate needles. Injecting too fast increases pain.
What to do?
Improve wrist position. Disguise the needle. Standardize injection speed with Computer-Controlled Local Anesthetic Delivery (CCLAD).
Reducing Waste
Maintaining the sustainability of traditional syringes with an entirely autoclavable body - only needles are disposed of.
